Filo Apple Pies

Try this simple apple pie recipe.


6 Granny Smith Apples
Cream to Serve
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup caster sugar
2 cloves
Juice & zest of one lime
20g butter, melted
1 tsp ground cinnamon
12 sheets of filo pastry


Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

Cut apples into 2cm pieces (leave skin on apple if you prefer). Add to a large suacepan with 1/4 cup water. juice and zest of lemon, cloves and caster sugar. Bring to boil until sugar is dissolved. Add a little rock salt and 1tsp ground cinnamon and stir to combine. Remove from heat and leave to cool.

Grease a six hole muffin pan with butter or spray oil. Layer six filo sheets on a cutting board and cut in to 4 rectangles. Repeat for two more rectangles.

Place filo pastry into each muffin pan with the edges overlapping. Spoon in apple mixture then fold over filo into layers so the top is sealed. Brush with melted butter and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden.
